Job summary

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department seeks a senior fire management professional to oversee regional fire operations and ensure compliance with NWCG standards. You will coordinate with TPWD staff and partner agencies, mentor staff, and contribute to training programs sensitive to statewide fire management goals.

You will manage equipment and staff resources, support prescribed fire planning, and maintain safety and regulatory compliance across high-risk environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Agriculture, Wildlife Management, Rangeland Management, Fire Ecology or closely related field.
  • Five years of experience in Natural Resources Management, Conservation Science, Fire Management, Fire Ecology or closely related field.
  • Five years of experience in wildland fire management including writing, reviewing, and critiquing prescribed burn unit and area fire management plans.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate fire management activities within Region IV and V.
  • Assist agencies with fire operations statewide.
  • Mentor and certify Division staff in the Incident Qualifications System database.
