Job summary

Sand Harbor Specialty Insurance Brokers in Walnut Creek, CA, seeks a Senior Broker Assistant to support Brokers and Associate Brokers by coordinating account activity, facilitating client- agent-underwriter communication, and ensuring timely policy placements and service deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of Wholesale insurance experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of coverage and coverage forms.
• Home state P&C license (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• Proven organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to make independent decisions, following company guidelines, with no supervision from assigned Broker.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common computer applications.
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work extended hours as needed.
• Ability and willingness to travel to the office and attend in-person meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support Brokers and Associate Brokers in placement strategies and client service.
• Coordinate communication between clients, agents, underwriters, and internal teams to ensure seamless information flow.
• Prepare quotations for new business, renewals, and policy changes with accuracy.
• Facilitate issuance of binders, invoices, and filings on time.
• Communicate coverage details, policy terms and exposures clearly to agents and clients.
• Review policies, endorsements, audits and related documents for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Respond promptly to service-related requests from internal teams, agents and underwriters.
• Maintain and organize all account documentation in compliance with standards.
• Ensure cancellation and non-renewal processes follow regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Oversee suspense items and follow up on outstanding documentation.
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients and carrier partners to address questions and opportunities for coverage enhancements.
• Monitor account activity including billing, collections and tax-related items.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with clients and underwriters to support retention and growth.
