Job summary

Apptronik seeks a Senior Software Engineer – Wheeled Controls to lead high-performance motion control development for mobile robotic platforms. You will design state-estimation, base controllers, and arm/torso trajectory tracking with coupling compensation to enable precise, safe, and reliable wheeled motion in complex environments.

You will advance estimation techniques, integrate wheel drives with upper-body actuators, and drive productization with safety-certified, production-grade software.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of classical and modern control theory applied to whole-body loco-manipulation systems.
• Strong experience with Kalman filtering and sensor fusion (IMU, encoders, LiDAR, F/T sensors).
• Proficiency in modern C++ (14/17/20) for real-time systems and memory management.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and tune whole-body controllers coordinating wheeled base motion with upper-body manipulation.
• Develop low-level software interfaces between planning stacks and wheel drive/actuators with deterministic performance.
• Lead field validation and ensure safety-compliant software architectures for production-grade deployment.
