Job summary

Hydrasearch, a U.S. manufacturer of fluid-transfer and control systems for maritime, aerospace, and defense, seeks a Senior/Principal Welding Process Engineer in Stevensville, MD.

You will lead development of welding capabilities, ensuring AS9100 and customer requirements are met, and drive rapid cycles from concept to production. This hands-on role balances speed with technical rigor, working in a small team to qualify WPS, PQR, and WPQ, while supporting make-vs-buy decisions and transition of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding/Mechanical/Materials Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in welding engineering or welding process development in compliant manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of welding metallurgy and inspection methods (VT/PT/RT/UT).
• Experience qualifying welding procedures and welder certification programs.
• Understanding of AS9100 special process requirements.
• Travel domestically and internationally may be required.

Responsibilities

• Capability creation: identify and close welding capability gaps for growth.
• Hands-on development: drive welding procedure development and welder qualifications.
• Technical authority: interpret AWS, ASME, NAVSEA requirements for welding.
• Design for weldability: advise early to ensure manufacturability.
• Special processes: support welding, brazing, and tube joining processes.
• Strategic transition: ensure qualified processes transition to production.
