Job summary

Hydrasearch is seeking a Senior/Principal Welding Process Engineer to lead welding process development for aerospace, naval, and defense programs in Stevensville, MD. You will drive capability creation, qualify welding procedures, and ensure compliance with AS9100 and NAVSEA standards.

This hands-on, fast-paced role requires a builder mindset and extensive experience in welding metallurgy and inspection methods. Travel may be required to support programs and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or related field is required.
• 10+ years in welding engineering or process development in compliant manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of welding metallurgy, processes and inspection methods.
• Experience qualifying welding procedures and welder certifications.
• Thorough understanding of AS9100 special processes.

Responsibilities

• Capability creation: identify gaps and develop welding standards.
• Hands-on development: drive WPS, PQR, and WPQ with rapid cycles.
• Technical authority: apply AWS, ASME, NAVSEA, and customer welding requirements.
• Design for weldability: advise on manufacturability early in design.
• Special processes: support welding, brazing, and tube joining.
• Strategic transition: ensure qualified processes move to production.
