Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Welding/Principal Manufacturing Engineer to lead welding and fabrication for marine propulsion and power generation systems. You will develop processes, tooling, and work instructions with a team of mechanics, machinists, welders and engineers.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with experience (2+ years) or higher, proficiency in reading engineering drawings, and U.S. citizenship. On-site work is expected with occasional offsite collaboration.

Qualifications

Experience with arc welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience with shop floor support
U.S. citizenship is required
Experience with mechanical assembly processes and welding is preferred

Responsibilities

Develop new manufacturing processes and tooling with a team of engineers and technicians.
Document and optimize welding procedures and fabrication processes.
Evaluate existing processes to reduce cost and improve safety and sustainability.
Create efficient process flows, BOMs, work instructions and maintenance plans.
Coordinate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability (DFM).
Lead qualification and certification of welding processes and personnel.
On-site work with occasional off-site tasks with approval
