Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Co is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to support welding requirements for fabrication, erection, and maintenance of nuclear power plants. The role reports to the Lead Engineer – Welding Technologies and is hybrid, requiring 2 days on-site at Cranberry Township, PA or Rock Hill, SC with flexibility for other US locations.

Responsibilities include developing welding specifications, reviewing supplier documentation, and supporting the WELD software suite while collaborating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or engineering related field.
• 4+ years experience as a Welding Engineer or related position.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS and ASME Codes including ASME Section II, III, IX, B31.1, and AWS D1.1, D1.3, D1.4, D1.6, D9.1, D10.10.
• Experience with fabrication and erection of steel structures and piping systems, including nuclear components.
• Experience with qualification of welders and welding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Reviews contract, design, and regulatory requirements to develop project welding specifications.
• Provides disposition of supplier-related requests for information and nonconformances.
• Reviews supplier documentation to ensure conformance with project requirements.
• Provides materials engineering support including material selection and heat treatment.
• Interfaces with Global Supply Chain and Supplier Performance Engineering for fab-follow activities.
• Supports development of the WELD software suite and analyzes weld failures.
