Profile Senior Welding Engineer

Do you have experience supervising welding and fabrication processes for large-scale offshore projects? Can you ensure the structural integrity of offshore facilities, such as FPSOs and floating platforms?

We are looking for aSeniorWelding Engineer to oversee metallurgical, welding, and NDE aspects across engineering, procurement, and construction phases. You will ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and quality specifications for offshore structures and FPSO projects.

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Specify, monitor, and advise on all metallurgical, fabrication, welding, and NDE aspects during engineering, procurement, construction, and offshore operations.
  • Oversee welding and metallurgical processes for FPSO, FSO, MS, PLEM, and Calm Buoy projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Coordinate, execute, and control metallurgical and welding activities within budget, time, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Ensure manufacturers, construction yards, and suppliers comply with regulatory and contractual welding and metallurgy requirements.
  • Estimate man-hours and monitor engineering budgets for metallurgical and welding activities.
  • Develop and compile project specifications, ensuring compliance with technical documentation, standards, and client requirements.
  • Support engineering teams with metallurgical and welding expertise to optimise project outcomes.
  • Conduct quality control checks on metallurgy, welding, and NDE requirements for equipment packages and bulk supplies.
  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, and construction yards to resolve welding and metallurgical issues.
  • Perform technical audits and evaluations for suppliers and subcontractors, including qualification programs.
  • Review and approve material deliverables from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Provide expert advice on welding, fabrication, and metallurgical challenges.
  • Assist in material and equipment failure investigations and engineering assessments.
  • Implement lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives for welding and metallurgical processes.
  • Stay updated on metallurgical and welding methodologies advancements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Requirements Senior Welding Engineer
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical, Metallurgy, Petroleum, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in metallurgy, welding, and NDE within FPSO, FSO, FLNG, or offshore industries.
  • Required certifications from materials-related professional organisations such as IWE, IOM3, and TWI.
  • Knowledge of offshore industry codes and standards, including ASME, AWS, API, ISO, NACE, ASTM, ABS, BV, DNV, and LR.
  • Experience with metallurgy, welding, and materials selection for CS/LTCS, and CRA materials.
  • Understanding fabrication technologies, corrosion control, CP systems (ICCP & SACCP), painting, lining, insulation, and fireproofing.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects efficiently.
  • Proactive mindset with strong leadership and initiative-taking abilities.
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural environment and share expertise.
  • Office preference is required a few days per week.
  • Availability to travel to yards, fabrication sites, and vendor premises worldwide.
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
