Job summary

State of Nevada in Tonopah, NV seeks a Welder II to join its roadway maintenance fleet. The role requires hands-on welding across AC/DC arc, TIG, MIG, and brazing, with strong layout and fabrication responsibilities.

Applicants must have an approved welding apprenticeship and journeyman-level experience, or equivalent, and hold an AWS certification in horizontal/vertical/overhead welding including pipe welding 1G & 2G. Safety and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved welding apprenticeship training program followed by one year of journey level welding experience; OR one year of experience as a Welder I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret welding and metallurgy manuals, welding symbols, blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out welding projects and join metal components using gas welding, arc welding, soldering, and brazing.
• Fabricate, strengthen, and repair components, equipment, and fixtures.
• Read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and schematics; design patterns, templates, and jigs.
• Inspect work and determine best welding or repair procedure; ensure safety and accuracy.
