The role involves welding metal parts with gas and arc processes, performing thermal cutting and grinding, and repairing components. Candidates should have 5–10 years of welding experience, blueprints reading ability, and a high school diploma; D1 certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of welding/fitter experience or equivalent
• D1 certification or related certifications preferred
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures
• Ability to read blueprints and perform precise measurements
• Experience in heavy manufacturing environment
• High school diploma or GED; technical certificate preferred

Responsibilities

• Welds metal parts using gas and arc welding processes
• Performs thermal cutting and grinding as needed
• Repairs broken or cracked parts; enlarges holes and sizes components
• Sets up and clamps components before welding
• May locate and repair cracks in cylinder heads using inspection tools
• Assembles and welds laid-out components; secures parts with bolts/clamps
• Operates welding equipment (arc, gas-shielded arc)
• Dismantles, straightens, reshapes, and reassembles parts as required
