Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking a seasoned WebSphere Administrator in New York, NY for a direct-hire, on-site role supporting HR functions and production maintenance. You will install, configure, and administer middleware across HR/Payroll systems.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with IBM WebSphere Server Traditional and WebSphere Liberty on Linux/UNIX, IBM MQ, and Cognos, and can work independently while coordinating with application and infrastructure teams in a large enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Five or more years of middleware administration experience.
• Experience administering IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS) on Linux/UNIX-based platforms.
• Experience administering WebSphere Liberty on Linux/UNIX-based platforms.
• Experience managing WebSphere Liberty server configurations, including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options.
• Experience using Git for source control and configuration management.
• Experience using Ansible for middleware administration, automation, configuration management, and application deployments.
• Experience administering middleware products such as IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle WebLogic, and Cognos.
• Experience performing middleware application upgrades and patch installations.
• Experience understanding and debugging Java errors.
• Good understanding of relational database concepts.
• Experience using SQL.
• Experience in an enterprise-wide, large-scale environment.
• Ability to support 24x7 operations and work nights or weekends as required.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to independently research issues.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support middleware infrastructure, including IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ, and Cognos.
• Administer WebSphere Application Server Traditional and WebSphere Liberty on Linux/UNIX-based platforms.
• Support middleware for HR/Benefits/Timekeeping/HR-Payroll applications.
• Manage WebSphere Liberty server configurations (server.xml, bootstrap.properties, jvm.options).
• Perform middleware upgrades, patching, and related maintenance.
• Support production maintenance and phased rollout activities for HR/Payroll systems.
• Use Git for source control and configuration management.
• Use Ansible for automation and deployment of middleware.
• Collaborate with teams to improve automation and consistency across environments.
• Support CI/CD and DevOps practices where applicable.
