Job summary

Alta Planning + Design seeks a Web and Digital Studio Lead to steer and grow digital capabilities within our Marketing & Creative Services team. You’ll guide a multidisciplinary team while shaping complex websites, web apps, data-driven tools, and integrations.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on development, GIS, and data visualization, offering a hybrid schedule in Portland, OR. A strong background in full-stack web development and client-facing work is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional full-stack web development experience with leadership.
• Experience overseeing technical contractors or vendors.
• Strong tooling: VS Code, Git/GitHub, Docker, WSL/macOS, CI/CD.
• Expert with modern front-end: JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue/Nuxt/Astro/Vite, CSS/SASS.
• Python with FastAPI or Django; PHP a plus.
• GIS/web mapping experience (ArcGIS/Mapbox).
• Data viz tools like Tableau; design tools like Figma/Adobe CC.
• Excellent client-facing communication and consultative skills.
• Genuine interest in sustainable transportation or city planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack websites, apps, dashboards, and data tools end-to-end.
• Define architecture: front-end/back-end, databases, APIs, hosting, security, analytics.
• Create interactive data visualizations by geography/time/demographics.
• Integrate GIS data and web mapping into products (ArcGIS/Mapbox).
• Coordinate Python-based data processing, automation, and APIs.
• Oversee integrations with CRMs/CDPs and marketing platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot).
• Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility across design, dev, and testing.
• Lead QA/QC for code, integrations, and final deliverables.
• Mentor Digital Studio team; balance workload and provide feedback.
• Guide contractors/vendors; manage budgets and scope.
• Support proposals with technical approaches and scalable scopes.
• Balance workload; manage software, hosting subscriptions, inventories.
