Job summary

The University of Chicago Advancement’s Digital Communications team seeks a Senior Web Developer to lead front-end work for emails, websites, and CMS projects. This role combines hands-on production with leadership, collaboration, and modern web technologies in a hybrid Chicago setting.

You will mentor developers, partner with designers and content strategists, and ensure accessibility, performance, and robust integrations across Drupal, WordPress, and related platforms to support university

Qualifications

Minimum of five years of professional experience developing CMS-based websites or web applications.
Experience in front-end development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience consulting on complex website or web application development projects.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science or related field.
Experience with Drupal and WordPress CMS platforms.

Responsibilities

Develops and maintains CMS-based websites and digital experiences.
Provides technical leadership and mentorship to developers.
Translates business requirements into technical approaches and implementation plans.
Ensures accessibility, usability, and cross-browser compatibility.
