Job summary

University of Michigan Information and Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an Application Developer Senior to join the Infrastructure Information Systems team on the Ann Arbor campus. You will build web applications, services, and APIs, while planning hardware/OS/browser infrastructure for the deployed solutions.

You will drive service enhancements, support production operations, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, well-documented technology solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Minimum of four years in a role requiring confidentiality, customer service, organization, prioritization, and troubleshooting to install, configure and support web application development.
• Development experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, .NET, PHP, or other web application frameworks.
• Knowledge of systems development methodologies (waterfall and iterative), process improvement, and data analysis.
• Proficiency with one or more structured programming languages and with reporting tools.
• Proficiency with one or more object-oriented programming languages and the concepts of web services development.
• Experience designing, developing, and documenting robust APIs to support scalable integrations.
• Experience with user interface design and usability best practices.
• Experience developing web services and integrations and resolving integration issues across technologies.

Responsibilities

• Identify and quantify customer requirements; map them to enhancements and new solutions.
• Provide daily operations and tier 2 support for applications; coordinate with teams to resolve incidents and improvements.
• Develop coding standards and technical design documents; deploy solutions and support ongoing maintenance.
• Follow established development tools, standards, and methodologies across projects.
