Job summary

University of Michigan ISR in Ann Arbor, MI seeks a Full-Stack Software Engineer to build web applications for political and social science data. You will contribute to both frontend and backend, using JavaScript for browser UI and Java for server logic, with emphasis on testing and quality.

You will mentor junior developers, review code, and collaborate with product owners and designers to deliver robust software. Hybrid work is available and work modes are reviewed annually.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 60 months experience as a Full-Stack Software Engineer or similar.
• Experience includes Java back-end with unit tests.
• Front-end programming in JavaScript.
• Bash scripting experience.
• SQL & JPA usage to query/modify databases.
• 60 months experience with SonarQube for code quality.

Responsibilities

• Develop web-based applications and related infrastructure for data management.
• Use JavaScript on user-facing browser components to tailor UI.
• Perform back-end programming in Java with unit tests.
• Remediate issues discovered with SonarQube.
• Use SQL & JPA to query/modify relational databases.
• Mentor junior developers, review code, and work with product owners & designers.
• Write Bash scripts on Linux to automate tasks.
