Job summary

Shield AI in Seattle seeks a senior mechanical engineer to be the expert on integrating weapons and payloads on our aircraft, applying MIL-STD-1289 to drive designs for weapons bays and pylons. You will collaborate with aircraft design teams, design pylons and fittings, and iterate designs with analysis groups.

You will support design reviews, guide test efforts including ground and flight tests, and serve as the primary contact for weapons and payloads integration on X Bat platforms.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering required.
• 10+ years in mechanical or mechanism design.
• Strong CAD skills, NX preferred.
• Familiarity with Bomb rack Units/Assemblies (BRA/BRU) and Launcher Assembly Units (LAU).
• Knowledge of pneumatic power systems for military aircraft.
• Experience designing suspension and release mounting fixtures and fittings.
• Experience with weapon pylons.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Combine and collaborate with aircraft design teams to perform mechanical weapons integration activities.
• Design pylons and fittings.
• Work across analysis teams to iterate designs.
• Support design reviews and report on design process accomplishments.
• Support integration and test efforts including ground and flight tests.
• Be the go-to person on weapons and payloads physical integration to X Bat.
