Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a senior Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to own the mechanical integration of weapons and payloads onto X-BAT aircraft, from concept to flight test, in a fast-paced defense-innovation environment.

You will design pylons, fittings, and weapon bay interfaces using MIL-STD-1289 and lead design reviews, analysis iterations, and ground/flight tests, leveraging NX CAD and extensive experience with payload interfaces.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 10+ years' design experience.
• Strong CAD skills (NX preferred) and familiarity with bomb rack units and launcher assemblies.
• Experience designing suspension and release mounting fixtures and weapon pylons.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical integration of weapons and payloads on X-BAT from concept to flight test.
• Design pylons, fittings and weapon bay interfaces following MIL-STD-1289.
• Support design reviews, analyses, and ground/flight test campaigns.

Job description

• Own the mechanical integration of weapons and payloads onto X-BAT aircraft, from concept to flight test.
• Design pylons, fittings, and weapons bay interfaces using best practices and MIL-STD-1289.
• Support design reviews, analysis iterations, and ground/flight test campaigns.

Required Qualifications:

• B.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and 10+ years of mechanical or mechanism design experience.
• Strong CAD skills (NX preferred) and familiarity with bomb rack units, launcher assemblies, and pneumatic power systems.
• Demonstrated experience in designing suspension and release mounting fixtures, and weapon pylons.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with UAVs, aircraft, or robotic systems, and familiarity with electro-mechanical actuators.
• Hands-on machine shop or mechanic experience, with the ability to thrive in startup, R&D, or defense innovation environments.
