Job description

Accountable for a revenue goal met through the acquisition of new clients from internal and external sources, and the retention and expansion of a book of business. Consults and coordinates on the delivery of solutions for a comprehensive wealth management strategy for individuals, business owners, and/or families.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Leads the client relationship team and has overall responsibility for ensuring the client has access to all resources and solutions of the firm. Works closely with Client Managers, Private Banking, Investment Advisors, and Fiduciary Advisors to assess the client's current financial situation, goals, and objectives to determine solutions through the financial planning process. Prioritizes short-term and long-term needs of the client based on the analysis.
  • Responsible for developing sales strategies to grow the client base. Promotes and sells the full range of financial services offered by the company to current and new clients.
  • Coordinates team communication and activities. Recommends ideas, suggestions, and alternative wealth solutions by utilizing a team of specialists as applicable.
  • Manages pipeline and activities to ensure an appropriate number of prospect opportunities are in the pipeline and progressing through the sales cycle to meet sales goals. Implements and delivers specific solutions.
  • Leads client relationship review discussions with the committee. Manages and reviews the relationship on an ongoing basis to ensure client goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Adheres to applicable compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Promotes an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintains M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and addressing issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities :

As the manager for a book of client relationships, the Wealth Advisor is responsible and accountable for coordinating activities of the relationship team (IAs, FAs, PBs, WSs, etc.), and ultimately responsible for growth and retention of that client base. The Wealth Advisor focuses on the profitable expansion of fee revenue while maintaining the highest ethical standards and adhering to our fiduciary culture. Accountable for revenue growth, including the acquisition of new business and the ongoing relationship management, growth, and retention of existing clients.

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities :

None.

Education and Experience Required :

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of sales experience in the financial services industry, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 5 years of sales experience in the high net worth or ultra high net worth client segment.

Proven track record of implementing wealth management strategies.

Education and Experience Preferred :

MBA (Master’s degree in Business Administration) or JD (Juris Doctor).

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $143,874.91 - $239,791.52 annually (USD). The successful candidate’s specific compensation will depend on their knowledge, skills, and experience.
