Job summary

Langan is seeking a Waterfront/Marine Project Engineer/Manager to join its collaborative team in New York City or Melville, Long Island.

The role involves providing waterfront/marine engineering expertise through analysis, design, and project management, supervising staff engineers, and interfacing with clients on both small- and large-scale private development and public infrastructure waterfront projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering.
Master’s degree in Structural, Geotechnical, or Coastal engineering preferred.
Professional Engineer licensure.
6+ years waterfront/marine experience.
Experience in preparing technical reports, specs, construction plans, and inspections.
Experience in project management: proposals, coordinating projects, client management, billings, mentoring staff.
Strong understanding of codes and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and software.
Entrepreneurial and professional demeanor; strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Ability to develop new business and other clients while maintaining workload.
Ability to coach staff; collaborative with staff, clients, and agencies.
Collaborative team player with interpersonal skills.
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Perform and review complex structural and geotechnical analyses.
Lead design for bulkheads, seawalls, platforms, breakwaters, and other waterfront structures.
Prepare and review permit applications (NYSDEC Tidal Wetlands, USACE 10/404, NYCSBS).
Prepare technical documents, reports, and construction‑related correspondence.
Supervise field investigations and waterfront construction activities.
Manage multiple projects within budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
Prepare proposals, draft change orders, review invoices and client billing.
Perform other duties as requested.
