Job summary

Essential Utilities, Inc. is hiring a Systems Operator III for our Lake/McHenry Counties & Glenview/Oak Brook area. You will install, operate, and maintain water and wastewater treatment equipment and assist with customer service as needed.

The role requires a High School Diploma, a valid US driver’s license (CDL a plus), and Class II Wastewater and Class B Water Licenses. This is a union position with a starting wage of $46.00 per hour and potential increases with licenses and tenure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License; CDL a plus.
• Class II Wastewater License.
• Class B Water License.
• Experience with industrial mechanical systems and/or pumps preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater and water facilities, including sludge treatment, lagoons, lift stations, and collection systems.
• Perform inspections, tests, and record data for regulatory and process control.
• Collect, analyze, and record water and wastewater samples for compliance.
• Prepare reports required by IEPA, ICC, and other entities.
• Respond to customer service, water distribution, and/or collection work orders.
