Job summary

You will oversee planning through design and construction, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with municipal and utility clients to ensure safe, on-schedule, within-budget delivery and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline and PE license in Georgia or reciprocity within 12 months.
  • Progressive experience managing water/wastewater infrastructure projects in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing projects through planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with municipal, utility, county, and regional water clients.
  • Experience supporting business development, including opportunity identification and proposal development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects (treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, distribution and collection systems).
  • Serve as Project Manager for multidisciplinary teams ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Build relationships with municipal, county, utility, and regional water clients across Georgia.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities.
  • Support proposals, interviews, scope development, technical approaches, and contract negotiations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams and mentor junior engineers.

Your impact

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join our growing Water team in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, you'll lead the delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects while helping drive strategic growth across the Georgia market. This position offers the opportunity to partner with local and national technical experts, build strong client relationships, and deliver innovative solutions that address critical water challenges facing communities today and in the future.

As a trusted leader, you'll oversee project execution from planning through design and construction, ensuring successful delivery while supporting client satisfaction, business development, and team growth. You'll play a key role in strengthening Jacobs' presence in the region by developing new opportunities and expanding relationships with municipal and utility clients.

Here's what you'll do
  • Lead and manage the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Serve as Project Manager for multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Jacobs' quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal, county, utility, and regional water clients throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area and broader Georgia market.
  • Collaborate with Client Account Managers and Operations leadership to identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities.
  • Support proposal development, project interviews, scope development, technical approaches, and contract negotiations.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to project teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project professionals while promoting a culture of technical excellence.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts across Jacobs to bring best in class solutions to clients' most complex water challenges.
  • Manage project performance, financial metrics, risk management, and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives within the water and wastewater market across Georgia and the Southeast region.
Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 12 months of hire.
  • Progressive experience managing and delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing projects through planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with municipal, utility, county, and regional water clients.
  • Proven ability to support business development activities, including opportunity identification, proposal development, and project pursuits.
  • Strong communication, leadership, project management, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.
Ideally, you'll also have
  • Experience leading large, complex water and wastewater programs or capital improvement projects.
  • Established relationships with municipal water and wastewater clients throughout Georgia and the Atlanta metropolitan area.
  • Knowledge of Georgia water regulatory requirements, permitting processes, and utility operations.
  • Experience developing project delivery strategies and managing commercial aspects of engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated success winning and managing significant municipal water and wastewater contracts.
  • Passion for mentoring staff, building high performing teams, and contributing to the long term growth of the business.

The base salary range for this position is $140,000.00 to $174,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
