Job summary

Decatur Utilities is seeking a Water and Wastewater Superintendent to lead the Water & Wastewater Operations group at the 10th Avenue Service Center. You will oversee civil engineering projects, assure safety, manage budgets, and coordinate with customers and developers to meet DU standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering or related field, 6–8 years of relevant experience, and strong leadership and communication skills to drive quality and compliance in utility projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6–8 years of relevant water and wastewater utility experience.
• Ability to read, interpret and comprehend contracts, specifications and procedures.
• Ability to analyze and prepare engineering and technical reports and business correspondence.
• Strong communication skills with supervisors, customers, and stakeholders.
• MS Office proficiency; capable of producing reports and data analyses.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to the Water & Wastewater Operations Supervisor and Water & Wastewater General Construction Supervisor for engineering, construction and project management.
• Develop safety policies, budgets, organizational structures, and system requirements.
• Administer and enforce safety policies and ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
• Provide project management and technical direction for planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater projects.
• Prepare estimates, plans, specifications, work orders, and cost estimates for water/wastewater mains and services.
• Coordinate with customers, developers, and outside engineers to ensure conformance to DU specifications.
