Job summary

Devopsroles is seeking a water/wastewater engineer to lead design tasks for transmission and distribution systems, manage permits, and mentor junior staff in a team-focused environment. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, technical analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate will bring 5–7 years of post-education experience, a Texas PE license, and strong communication skills to deliver high-quality design deliverables and reports for clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus in water/wastewater.
• 5–7 years of post-education water/wastewater engineering experience.
• Texas PE license required.
• Knowledge of Texas Commission of Environmental Quality regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Experience preparing permit applications for oversight agencies to address environmental issues in water/wastewater projects.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
• Mentor junior staff and grow engineers.
• Ability to learn new techniques and work independently while following policies.
• Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office tools, math principles, and modeling software.
• Familiarity with hydraulic modeling (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater), process modeling (GPS-X), and ESRI ArcGIS.

Responsibilities

• Lead design tasks for water/wastewater transmission and distribution projects.
• Coordinate permits, construction activities and junior staff guidance.
• Serve as task lead in multidisciplinary water/wastewater facilities projects.
• Perform concept-level designs and regulatory analysis memos.
• Maintain QC standards for designs, analyses and reports.
• Assist with project scoping for small- to medium-sized projects.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations of findings.
• Support HASP development and implementation.
• Collaborate with public and private groups as needed.
• Travel as required.
