Job summary

NV5, Inc. in California is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead planning, design, and construction documentation for water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines, pump stations, and treatment systems.

The role emphasizes project management, client liaison, and delivering high-quality engineering work. Qualifications include a Civil or Environmental degree, 8+ years of experience, CA PE preferred, and proficiency with hydraulic modeling (Innovyze).

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive water/wastewater design experience; hydraulic modeling with Innovyze preferred.
• LEED and/or QSD/QSP preferred.
• Local CA municipal experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute complex assignments related to planning, design, and construction documents for water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Apply standard engineering practices including hydraulic modeling and design reviews.
• Manage projects: client contacts, budget, schedule; assist in marketing and proposals.
• Prepare reports, plans, specs, and estimates; assist with permitting.
• Mentor junior engineers and present to governing boards and city councils.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams and regulatory agencies; travel as needed.

Our Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer executes complex assignments related to planning, designing, and preparing construction documents for water and wastewater infrastructure, including collection and transmission pipelines, pump stations, and water/wastewater treatment systems. Our talented engineers have experience in water supply & treatment, water transmission, distribution, and storage; pump stations; wastewater conveyance; wastewater treatment; and reclaimed water transmission, distribution, and storage.

Responsibilities

Executes complex assignments relating to planning, designing, and preparing construction documents related to water and wastewater infrastructure, including collection and transmission pipelines; pump stations; and water/wastewater treatment systems.

The candidate will have experience and/or expertise in one or more of the following:

• Water supply and treatment
• Water transmission, distribution and storage
• Pump stations
• Wastewater conveyance
• Wastewater treatment
• Reclaimed water transmission, distribution and storage

As a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer, the candidate will apply standard engineering practices and techniques, which may include:

• Project Management, point of contact with clients, managing project delivery, budget, and schedule.
• Assist in the delivery of water and/or wastewater projects, including evaluation and detailed design of water and wastewater treatment plants, supply wells, water reuse systems, distribution systems, conveyance, storage, and pipeline projects.
• Preparing Preliminary Engineering Reports, Plans, Specifications, and Estimates
• Preparing master planning reports and hydraulic modeling
• Participating in local professional organizations.
• Assisting in marketing business opportunities with key clients and development of responses to RFP/RFQs.
• Developing long-term relationships with clients
• Assisting clients with permitting
• Successfully interfacing with multi-disciplinary design teams, including civil site design, structural, surveying, and geotechnical engineering
• Mentoring junior engineers
• Presentations to governing boards and city councils
• Work with local and state regulatory agencies for project permitting, funding, etc.
• Travel to project sites and client meetings, with occasional overnight stays required

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Environmental engineering, an M.S. Degree in a related field is preferred
• California PE preferred or ability to obtain a California PE license within a year
• 8+ years of progressive relative water/wastewater infrastructure design experience. Experience on hydraulic modeling software for water distribution and wastewater collection systems is preferred (Innovyze products)
• LEED and/or QSD/QSP is preferred
• Local municipality, water district experience within CA is strongly preferred. Experience working with municipalities and public agencies in Southern California is a plus.

The pay range for this position in California is $150,000 to $180,000 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
