A Project Manager II provides leadership for the design and construction of Power Delivery projects, overseeing scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with matrixed teams, clients, and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience in a relevant field.
• 6+ years of work in a relevant field and position, managing complex technical and/or civil projects.
• PMP Certification for Distribution or Transmission specialists (preferred).
• Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
• Understanding of financial performance and earned value metrics for a project.

A Project Manager II provides leadership for and oversight of the design and construction of Power Delivery projects. Works with team to secure, manage, and deliver projects from new and existing clients. Candidates have a level of leadership experience in the field or a relevant specialty, demonstrate ability to understand engineering concepts applicable to the job area, and be interested in continuous learning. NV5 prefers candidates with experience in public utility design and construction, as well as experience with business management.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clear direction of next steps when needed to design team
  • Monitors KPI’s, critical path, issues management,
• Provides project analysis and metrics for individual projects
• Primary point of contact for internal peers
• Primary point of contact for client’s internal work teams

• Continuously build and maintain a network of third-party consultants and vendors
• Lead project acquisition efforts including identifying opportunities and working collaboratively with Marketing team in preparing bids and interviews for jobs
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of client and industry standards related to design and construction
• Create appropriate documentation for change orders
• Demonstrate abilities to negotiate solutions to client concerns or project overages

Qualifications

• Valid CA driver’s license
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or relevant field, or equivalent training and experience
• At least 6 years of work in a relevant field and position, managing complex technical and/or civil projects
• PMP Certification for Distribution or Transmission specialists
• Strong skills in MS Office
• Positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
• Understanding of financial performance and earned value metrics for a project

Desired Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of client and industry design and construction standards desired
• Experience in public utility design and construction, natural gas pipelines, water/sewer infrastructure, or electric distribution overhead and underground infrastructure

Metrics:

• Evaluation is based, in part on the timely, accurate completion of work

The pay range for this California position is $145,000- $150,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location.
