About The Job

Dudek is seeking a full-time Senior Engineer for our Engineering Practice group, with expertise in wastewater treatment plant planning, design, and rehabilitation. The role involves providing technical design services across water, sewer, recycled water, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Given California’s over 900 wastewater treatment plants processing approximately 4 billion gallons daily, your work will support process efficiency, reliability, expansion, and rehabilitation efforts.

This hybrid role allows support across the state while maintaining work-life balance. As a senior engineer, you will:

• Lead and support treatment plant capital improvement projects.
• Become a subject matter expert in wastewater treatment processes, including activated sludge, fixed-film, nutrient removal, membrane bioreactors, tertiary filtration, disinfection, and biosolids processing.
• Provide engineering support during construction phases.
• Contribute to a growing team focused on infrastructure rehabilitation and improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical specialist in wastewater treatment systems, guiding project teams.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables such as process models, calculations, design criteria, P&IDs, and master plans.
• Recommend treatment processes, equipment, and materials.
• Manage data collection and analysis for modeling and design.
• Perform engineering calculations following standard methods.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
• Develop life cycle cost evaluations for treatment options.
• Coordinate with team members for project success.
• Work in the field as needed, including construction observation and site visits within California.
• Delegate tasks to team members to ensure project completion.

Minimum Requirements

• Professional Civil Engineer license in California.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of related engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of wastewater treatment experience, including water quality and treatment.
• Advanced degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
• Deep knowledge of municipal wastewater process design and standards.
• Effective communication skills.
• Prior consulting experience.

Physical and Work Conditions

This role can be remote or office-based, involving standard office equipment and occasional site visits outdoors, which may include noise, uneven surfaces, and weather extremes.

Physical demands include working at a computer, attending meetings, and visual acuity for detailed tasks.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $140,000 - $200,000 annually, based on experience and location.
