We are looking for a Build Engineer to join our growing Build & Release Team where you will help own the evolving design, scalability, and reliability of our entire pipeline infrastructure. In this pivotal role, you'll work across deployments in Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, macOS, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions to ensure our pipelines can support our ever evolving developer and product needs. You'll enable performant and resilient pipelines, tackle the latest tooling and automation challenges, and help drive engineering velocity across the organization. Your contributions will directly empower developer and release workflows to ensure 1Password products are available across different mediums; facilitating the distribution of our products to our customers worldwide. This role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our product pipelines and make an impact at scale.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.


What we're looking for:
• Experience with CI systems, including designing, operating, and maintaining complex build and release pipelines
• Proficiency in Python, Powershell, Bash, or comparable scripting languages
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Helm
• Experience with containerized technologies, particularly Docker, and orchestration platforms, especially Kubernetes
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS
• Experience with maintaining and deploying updated toolchains across a variety CI pipelines
• Proven knowledge of Make or similar build automation tooling
• Understanding of different platforms’ (e.g. macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and Windows) packaging scheme
• Understanding of code signing and validation
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
Bonus points for:
• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and GHA Self-Hosted Runners
• Proficiency in Rust and/or TypeScript
What you can expect:
• Work closely with development and operations teams to understand their needs and provide effective and easy to use build and release solutions
• Proactively monitor and maintain the health and stability of our build infrastructure, troubleshooting issues and implementing necessary upgrades or improvements.
• Analyze build performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to reduce build times and resource consumption.
• Guide other teams on CI/CD best practices
• Collaborate with an awesome team of build engineers to release products that millions of people entrust with their most important information



USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $123,000 USD and $167,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $111,000 CAD and $150,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
