POSITION SUMMARY:
The Water/Wastewater Project Engineer/Manager is a professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience. This individual will work in our Asheville, NC office and will plan, design, and perform analysis on water/wastewater engineering projects such as pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment facilities. The engineer shall be self-motivated, capable of acting as the firm’s representative to clients, and providing support to branch offices in NJ/PA/DE.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Hydraulic calculations and layout of structures.
  2. Producing correspondence, reports, and biddable documents for arsenic, radium, and iron removal water plants; wells; water storage tanks; pumping stations; piping systems; and wastewater treatment plant improvements.
  3. Providing engineering support to the inspection department.
  4. Acting as the firm’s representative to townships, utility authorities, and private utility companies.
  5. Drafting concise proposals for new work.
  6. Managing multiple simultaneous assignments, ensuring on-time delivery within budgets.
  7. Proactively identifying problems/issues, conducting detailed analysis, and implementing effective resolutions.
  8. Producing all deliverables associated with this position.
  9. Handling regulatory permitting processes.
  10. Assisting with energy audits.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of water/wastewater equipment and their purposes.
  • Ability to read and understand complicated construction drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, and handbooks.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate thoughts verbally and in written correspondence, reports, and specifications.
  • Dedication to producing quality work and taking pride in all assignments.
  • Willingness to seek guidance or assistance to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff.
  • Skill in managing project meetings with staff, clients, or contractors.
  • Familiarity with PADEP regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication, management, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel; AutoCAD skills are a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • NC PE License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

While performing this job, the employee may occasionally work in the field and be exposed to outside weather conditions. The role requires frequent and prolonged computer use and may occasionally involve lifting up to 25 pounds.
