Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer/Manager to join their Allentown office. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience, a PE license, and will be responsible for managing complex water/wastewater projects. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and perform analysis on water/wastewater engineering projects.
  • Manage multiple assignments ensuring on-time delivery within budgets.
  • Provide engineering support to the inspection department.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Water/Wastewater Project Engineer/Manager is a professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience. This individual will work in our Allentown, PA office and will plan, design, and perform analysis on water/wastewater engineering projects such as pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment facilities. The engineer shall be self-motivated, capable of acting as the firm’s representative to clients, and providing support to branch offices in NJ/PA/DE.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  1. Hydraulic calculations and layout of structures.
  2. Producing correspondence, reports, and bid documents for arsenic, radium, and iron removal water plants; wells; water storage tanks; pumping stations; piping systems; and wastewater treatment plant improvements.
  3. Providing engineering support to our inspection department.
  4. Acting as the firm’s representative to townships, utility authorities, and private utility companies.
  5. Drafting concise proposals for new work.
  6. Managing multiple simultaneous assignments, ensuring on-time delivery within budgets.
  7. Proactively identifying problems/issues with detailed analysis and effective resolution.
  8. Producing all deliverables associated with this position.
  9. Handling regulatory permitting processes.
  10. Assisting with energy audits.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater equipment and their purposes.
  • Ability to read and understand complex construction drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, and handbooks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for correspondence, reports, and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and pride in work quality.
  • Willingness to seek guidance to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups.
  • Experience in providing guidance and mentoring less experienced staff.
  • Ability to manage project meetings with staff, clients, or contractors.
  • Familiarity with PADEP regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel; AutoCAD skills are a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

Pennsylvania PE License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Occasional fieldwork in outside weather conditions. Frequent and prolonged computer use. May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
