Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Water / Wastewater Engineer to join our Water team in a hybrid work model. Lead design, optimization, and management of water treatment and pumping projects across multiple locations in VA and beyond.

Responsibilities include system design, hydraulics, testing, compliance, and project management, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and regulatory adherence. PE licensure or progress toward it is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering (MS preferred).
• Professional Engineer Licensed required (PE) or ability to obtain in 6-12 months.
• 8+ years in water/wastewater design of infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• System Design: design water/wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations with CAD drawings and equipment selection.
• Process Optimization: improve treatment techniques to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• System Hydraulics: perform hydraulic analysis and pump selection for plants and piping systems.
• Testing and Monitoring: analyze lab data and operator reports to resolve issues.
• Compliance and Safety: ensure treated water meets regulatory standards.
• Project Management: feasibility studies, design to construction oversight, cost projections.
• Data Analysis: monitor lab results to refine treatment techniques.
• Technical: act as a technical specialist in water treatment.
