Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Water Treatment Operator to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the plant's water supply, treatment, and distribution system. The role requires flexibility for a 24-hour facility, including weekends and holidays, under supervision of a lead operator.

You will work with SCADA systems, perform laboratory duties, maintain records, and support regulatory compliance while ensuring safe, efficient plant operation.

Qualifications

• Operates and maintains essential operations of the water treatment plant and facilities in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Operates SCADA system; adjusts chemicals and treatment equipment per regulatory permits.
• Trains Operator I/II and can cover those shifts as needed.
• Performs laboratory duties; maintains instruments; collects samples and prepares them for transport.
• Maintains logs and reports; ensures accuracy of records on their shift.
• Maintains plant status and communicates with lead operator and oncoming staff.
• Follows safety guidelines for working with hazardous chemicals and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors treatment process using SCADA; adjusts chemicals and equipment per permits.
• Maintains knowledge and skills for essential operations per regulations.
• Trains Operator I/II and covers shifts as needed.
• Performs laboratory duties and analyzes samples for transport.
• Keeps daily logs and reports; informs supervisor of performance.
• Meets with Lead Operator to report performance of the system.
• Responds to public complaints or concerns.
• Assists with inspections, construction, and maintenance projects.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Class “A” Surface Water Licensing from TCEQ
