Job summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Water Systems Planning & Hydraulic Modeling Engineer to advance hydraulic modeling for municipal water utilities and supporting design projects.

The role involves leading modeling efforts, data collection, calibration, and preparing technical reports for predominantly public sector clients. A PE license and strong communication skills will be important in a hybrid, full-time California-based position.

Qualifications

• Typically, a minimum of 10 years of related work experience in hydraulic modeling or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• California PE license or ability to obtain PE within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Lead drinking water modeling efforts using InfoWater Pro, WaterGEMS, AquaTwin Water for water distribution systems.
• Perform flow monitoring or advanced field testing to collect data for model calibration.
• Lead calibration of models using measured or observed data.
• Prepare and analyze technical reports detailing model development, calibration, analysis, and recommended improvements.
• Provide advanced technical support on design projects by modeling and validating facility sizing and system performance.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to communicate findings.
