Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking skilled water system maintenance personnel for the Cobb County Water System, System Maintenance Division. The roles involve four 10-hour shifts weekly and on-call status, including fieldwork across discharge sites, piping, and manhole tasks.

Responsibilities include locating and repairing water and sewer lines, performing GPS/GIS data entry, and operating a range of hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by two years of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of water and/or sewer utilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within one year of assignment.
• Must obtain Confined Space Entry, Trenching and Excavation, and Flagger certifications within nine months of assignment.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, repairs, and replaces water and sewer lines and related system components.
• Reads maps and uses GPS and GIS to update department databases.
• Operates and maintains field equipment and vehicles; gathers tools and materials.
• Performs on-call support and standby status as required.
• Adheres to established safety procedures and traffic control practices.
