Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a senior water resources engineer to lead and grow our practice in the Southeast. You’ll own projects, mentor a growing team, and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals for public and private sector clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Georgia preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
• Strong experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and stormwater management design.
• Experience with green infrastructure and low impact development practices.
• Experience with erosion and sediment control design and permitting.
• Proficiency in constructing plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcMap, and modeling software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to lead client interactions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workflow.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage water resources projects including stormwater master planning, drainage design, and 1D/2D modeling.
• Oversee watershed studies, capital projects, and stormwater management solutions.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and drainage design.
• Design stormwater systems, erosion control plans, and permitting efforts.
• Develop and review contract documents including plans, specs, and costs.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, proposals, and fees.
• Lead FEMA LOMC studies and related work.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to the team.
• Monitor progress to align with scope, schedule, and budget goals.
