Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Water Resources Engineer at mid to senior level in San Diego to support coastal and riverine projects. You will contribute to hydraulic modeling, flood risk analysis, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with agencies and clients to deliver robust design solutions.

The role requires 5–10+ years of experience, a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering; required
Master of Science; preferred
5 - 10+ years of related experience; required
Professional Engineer registration (PE); preferred
Background in floodplain mapping and FEMA compliance and standards
Experience with stormwater hydrology and hydraulic modeling and drainage design

Responsibilities

Serve as technical lead on projects including surface water hydrology & hydraulics, flood risk management, and estuarine/coastal restoration and protection
Perform numerical modeling in support of stormwater and drainage improvement projects
Perform 1D and 2D riverine hydraulic modeling
Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates in support of final bid packages
Participate in design activities and meetings with project team members, subcontractors, and clients
Prepare graphics, reports, and presentations and resolve issues creatively
