In this key role, you will combine advanced engineering expertise with project coordination to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant solutions. You will collaborate with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients throughout all project phases while mentoring junior staff. Additionally, you will support business development through technical contributions to proposals, client engagement, and participation in public meetings and other client-facing activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Engage with regulatory agencies and review authorities to secure permits and approvals, while monitoring project performance and supporting corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare design plans, specifications, reports, and permit documents for stormwater, drainage, flood control, and related infrastructure, supported by hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Serve as the technical lead, fostering long-term relationships with clients through meetings, presentations, public engagement, and clear communication of project goals.

  • Provide technical mentorship to junior staff, lead training sessions, and encourage collaboration across teams while supporting staff development in hydraulic engineering.
  • Maintain an active presence in professional organizations (e.g., ASFPM, NORMA, ASCE, EWRI) and partner with the Practice Area Leader (PAL) on internal research initiatives exploring emerging trends in hydraulic engineering.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in water resources or environmental engineering.
  • Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Washington required, or the ability to obtain within six months.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater, drainage, and flood control projects.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and subconsultants throughout project development.
  • Experience in technical writing for the development of engineering reports, calculations, and permitting documents.
  • Working knowledge of construction processes and specifications related to water resources infrastructure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a creative, professional team environment.
