Job summary

The City of Avondale, Arizona, is seeking a Senior Water Reclamation Mechanic to maintain and service the Water Reclamation Facility's equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, and related systems. The role emphasizes safe, efficient operation and preventive maintenance.

Under supervision, you will document activities in CMMS, respond to on-call outages, order parts, and coordinate with operations staff. A valid ADEQ Wastewater Treatment Operator Grade I certification or ability to obtain

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge of mechanical and repair principles, with vocational training preferred.
• 2+ years of maintenance experience on valves, pumps, motors, and related equipment.
• Water/wastewater maintenance experience is preferred.
• Must obtain ADEQ Grade I Certification within 6 months of hire and maintain it.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment, respond to emergency repairs, and operate machinery.
• Perform repairs on solid-state components, low voltage and 3-phase systems for industrial equipment.
• Investigate failures, coordinate preventive maintenance, and communicate with operations staff.
• Order parts, manage inventory, and use CMMS to document work orders and equipment data.
• Assist with periodic maintenance tasks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
