Job summary

The City of Sacramento's Water Division is seeking a Senior Plant Operator to lead the shift operations for drinking water plants, wells, reservoirs, and distribution. You will monitor SCADA systems, coordinate plant activities, and supervise a crew, including swing or graveyard shifts when required.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate leadership, planning, and delegation skills, with strong safety focus and ability to train city staff and coordinate with support teams.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience in operation of a drinking water or wastewater facility.
• Ability to supervise and train plant personnel with safety as a priority.
• Familiarity with SCADA and plant process control.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in operation, monitoring, and control of water/wastewater facilities on an assigned shift.
• Direct plant equipment operation, SCADA monitoring, and routine maintenance.
• Plan and schedule activities for the potable water system and pumping stations.
• Train less experienced staff and ensure safety practices are followed.
