Job summary

Charlotte Water in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager to lead complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through completion. This full-time, on-site role collaborates with operations, maintenance, planning, and external consultants to deliver capital improvement programs.

The successful candidate will manage scope, schedule, and budget, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor staff, and promote best practices in project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
• PE license in NC or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe preferred.
• PMP certification beneficial.
• Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with public sector entities or utilities desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through completion.
• Manage scope, schedule, and budget; coordinate design, permitting, and construction.
• Oversee engineering consultants, contractors, and internal staff.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and long-term asset management goals.
• Mentor junior staff and promote best practices.
