Job summary

City of Caldwell (ID) is seeking an advanced-level Infrastructure Operator to lead crews, oversee water distribution projects, and mentor staff. The role requires coordinating tasks, ensuring safety, and maintaining detailed records in outdoor environments with variable conditions.

The position involves coordinating with contractors and departments, performing inspections, and responding to emergency water main breaks.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED.
• Minimum of four years' experience in water distribution system construction, maintenance, or repair.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training providing necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead operator on water infrastructure projects; coordinate crew assignments and ensure safety standards.
• Plan and oversee water main extensions, valve and hydrant installations, and major repairs.
• Perform and supervise tapping, pressure testing, flushing, and disinfection of mains.
• Conduct advanced utility locating, leak detection, and pipeline troubleshooting.
• Provide technical instruction and mentorship to lower classifications.
• Review construction plans and provide field input on constructability.
