Job summary

City of Caldwell (ID) is seeking an intermediate-level Infrastructure Operator to perform construction and maintenance on the water distribution system. Responsibilities include installing and repairing mains, hydrants, and valves, and locating underground utilities under supervision with opportunities for independent judgment.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, at least two years of relevant experience, and possession of a Class II Water Distribution License for Idaho.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or possession of a GED.
• Minimum of two years' experience in water distribution system construction, maintenance, or repair.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs, and replaces water mains, valves, hydrants, and service connections.
• Independently operates equipment such as backhoes, loaders, compactors, and tapping machines.
• Conducts valve and hydrant exercising and inspections.
• Locates utilities and marks underground facilities in compliance with state regulations.
• Assists with water main shutdowns, pressure testing, and disinfection procedures.
• Performs leak detection and assists with emergency main break repairs.
• Provides training and field guidance to infrastructure operator I staff.
• Maintains work records, daily logs, and maps of completed projects.
• Participates in standby rotation and responds to after-hours emergencies.
• Communicates and coordinates regularly with others to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
