Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a seasoned Civil/Mechanical Engineer in Florida to design and oversee water and wastewater pipeline projects. You will guide junior engineers, review drawings, and contribute to cost estimates and scheduling. Strong communication and project coordination are essential for success in this role.

The position emphasizes quality control, design review, and potential project management responsibilities, with a focus on large-diameter pipelines and complex hydrological systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater pipeline projects.
• Experience with Stormwater, water systems, and sanitary sewer projects.
• Experience with large-diameter pipelines (>60 inches) preferred.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design concepts and sketches for review by junior engineers.
• Plan and review production of drawings and specifications.
• Develop plans and criteria for new projects and evaluate alternatives.
• Analyze technical problems and propose solutions.
• Prepare cost, manpower estimates, schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate with project manager and mentor junior staff.
• Ensure quality control and review designs and drawings.
• May manage projects occasionally.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description Overview

• Performs project design, sketching design concepts to be developed by junior engineers, CAD designers or technicians.
• Plans and reviews the production of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Plans and reviews the production of engineering investigations or planning work.
• Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution.
• Analyzes technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.
• Analyzes project dimension and scope and prepares or oversees the preparation of cost and manpower estimates, schedules and job budgets.
• Coordinates work with project manager and guides junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.
• Is responsible for quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
• May occasionally manage projects.
• Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

About you

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8+ years’ experience in water / wastewater pipeline projects.
• Project experience in the following areas: Stormwater management.
• Water systems.
• Sanitary sewer systems.
• Experience with large diameter (greater than 60-inches) pipelines is preferred.
• Preparation of technical proposals.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $105,000 - $135,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
