Job summary

Kern County Water Agency seeks a licensed Professional Engineer in California for an Engineer III – Facilities Engineer role based in the Stuart T. Pyle Water Resources Center in Bakersfield.

Responsibilities include leading GIS, design, and project management across water pumping, conveyance, purification and groundwater recovery facilities. Requires a CA-registered PE, a bachelor's degree in engineering, and 4+ years of progressive engineering experience in water facilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering principles for planning, design, construction and operation of water facilities.
• Familiarity with building codes, safety, water treatment and public contracting.
• Experience with mapping, drafting, design and development of specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the Agency’s mapping and geographic information systems; maintain and update maps, drawings and records.
• Lead multiple complex facility construction projects, including defining project scope, milestones, consultants, contracts, amendments and change orders; monitor schedules.
• Prepare plans, specifications, bidding documents, and other contract documents; provide engineering support in planning, design, construction and facilities engineering; prepare studies and reports.
