Job summary

CPS, Inc. is seeking a Senior R&D Chemist in the United States to lead development of water-based coatings and polymer formulations.

This role offers a base salary range of $90,000–$140,000 and comprehensive benefits, with opportunities to commercialize innovative products. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of industrial experience, a BS or MS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field, and proven success bringing products to market while collaborating across R&D, production, QA, and sales

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of industrial formulation experience.
• Strong experience developing water-based coatings, particularly waterborne emulsions.
• Experience with coatings, adhesives, mold-release agents, processing aids, or related polymer technologies.
• Proven track record of successfully commercializing products that have demonstrated sustained market success.
• Experience with polyurethane, epoxy, polyester, thermoset resins, or fiber-reinforced composites is a plus.
• Strong laboratory, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and develop water-based release coatings, cleaners, primers, and processing aids for polymer applications.
• Conduct laboratory testing and evaluate product performance for various mold-release applications.
• Develop and optimize formulations for use with thermoset resins, polyurethanes, epoxies, polyesters, and fiber-reinforced composites.
• Lead product development projects from initial formulation through successful commercialization.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality Control, and Sales teams to support product development and manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot formulation and application challenges.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, technical documentation, and a safe working environment.
