Job summary

CPS Inc. in Connecticut is seeking a Senior R&D Chemist to join its expanding R&D team. The role focuses on developing innovative polymer technologies, commercializing new products, and supporting corporate growth.

The candidate will formulate and optimize water-based coatings, conduct lab testing, and lead projects from conception to market launch, collaborating with Production, QC, and Sales to drive success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industrial formulation experience.
• Strong experience developing water-based coatings, particularly waterborne emulsions.
• Experience with coatings, adhesives, mold-release agents, processing aids, or related polymer technologies.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and develop water-based release coatings, cleaners, primers, and processing aids for polymer applications.
• Conduct laboratory testing and evaluate product performance for various mold-release applications.
• Develop and optimize formulations for use with thermoset resins, polyurethanes, epoxies, polyesters, and fiber-reinforced composites.
• Lead product development projects from initial formulation through successful commercialization.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality Control, and Sales teams to support product development and manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot formulation and application challenges.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, technical documentation, and a safe working environment.

• Strong laboratory, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
