Job summary

City of Zephyrhills is seeking a Chief Plant Operator (Wastewater) for the City Wastewater Treatment Facility. The role oversees operation and maintenance, supervises plant staff, inspects equipment, and ensures compliance with environmental standards.

The ideal candidate has a Florida Class B wastewater license (or higher) and a minimum five years in the field, including supervisory experience. Overtime, night shifts, and on-call rotations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• At least five years in wastewater plant operations, with two years in supervision.
• Florida Wastewater Operator License (Class B or higher) or obtain within six months of employment.
• CDL Class B with air brake and tanker endorsement or obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment facility.
• Supervise and assign work to plant operators; cover when needed.
• Inspect buildings and equipment; perform preventive maintenance and adjustments.
• Collect water samples and log data; adjust chemical feed rates.
• Order parts and manage inventory; participate in on-call rotations.
• Work overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
