Job summary

The Professional Engineer III – Wastewater position is with the Florida Department of Corrections in the Division of Facilities Management and Building Construction, Central Office, Tallahassee. The incumbent serves as a Licensed Professional Engineer responsible for the safety, compliance, and structural integrity of wastewater systems across correctional facilities.

Duties include authorizing blueprints and leading capital improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred) with 5+ years engineering experience, 2+ years as a Florida PE
• Experience in wastewater design, construction, operation, and permitting
• Valid Driver's License and ability to drive a state vehicle and travel statewide
• 5-7 years of progressive engineering tenure focused on wastewater infrastructure or public utilities

Responsibilities

• Authorizes engineering blueprints and leads capital improvement projects
• Ensures regulatory compliance with state and federal clean water mandates
• Provides technical guidance to operators and staff
• Travels statewide to correctional facilities for project oversight and inspections
