Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Wastewater Engineer to strengthen our regional water team across NY, NJ, PA and MA. You will lead design and delivery of municipal wastewater facilities and related projects, collaborating with regional leadership to plan, design, and implement upgrades from studies through construction.

As a senior contributor, you will mentor junior staff, manage scopes and budgets, and build client relationships while advancing our wastewater capabilities in the region.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in municipal wastewater engineering preferred.
• Experience with design and delivery of wastewater facilities.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory and client management.

Responsibilities

• Lead wastewater treatment planning, process evaluations and facility designs.
• Develop design criteria, calculations, hydraulic profiles, mass balances, equipment sizing and layouts.
• Design and evaluate headworks, primary and biological treatment, nutrient removal, clarification, disinfection and biosolids handling.
• Support sanitary sewer, force main, pump station, inflow and infiltration, and wet-weather projects.
• Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and bid documents.
• Manage technical tasks, project scope, schedules, budgets and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Provide construction-phase support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field coordination and commissioning.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical quality assurance.
• Build client relationships and support proposals, interviews and regional business development.
