Job summary

Dell is seeking a Senior Network WAN Engineer for a Federal client. On-site in Chantilly, VA, this role drives design, deployment, and optimization of next‑generation networks to support IT workloads. You will work with cross‑functional teams to build scalable, reliable architectures and mentor junior engineers.

Key areas include BGP/L2-L3 data center design, VLAN/MLAG/LAG, Spine/Leaf topologies, SD-WAN platforms, and rigorous documentation. Travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required to maintain access.
• Proven experience designing, configuring, and managing BGP and Layer 2/3 data center architectures.
• Experience with Spine/Leaf, MLAG, LAG, VLAN, and Trunk/Access.
• Experience with SD-WAN platforms such as Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, Viptela, Fortinet, or Silver Peak.
• Strong communication and teamwork; ability to travel 25%.
• Proficiency with network telemetry tools for optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain complex Layer 2/3 data center architectures using BGP, VLANs, MLAG, LAG, Spine/Leaf topologies, Trunk/Access ports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into network solutions.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members for professional growth.
• Stay updated on networking trends and best practices; seek learning opportunities.
• Contribute to documentation of network designs and configurations for knowledge sharing.
• Travel up to 25% for on-site installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting at customer sites or data centers.
