Job summary

Tanium is seeking a security engineer for the Vulnerability Research team within the R&D Security organization. The role focuses on discovering and remediating vulnerabilities in Tanium software and cloud services.

You will steer research with frontier AI, build reliable tooling, and provide patch guidance to engineers. The team values deep security expertise and collaborative problem solving.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in security research or engineering.
• Strong understanding of web and native application security.
• Experience with source code review, manual testing, or fuzzing.
• Ability to determine severity and business impact of vulnerabilities.
• Proficiency in Go, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Decide attack surfaces and bug classes to pursue and build discovery capabilities.
• Triage vulnerabilities by exploitability and impact for remediation priority.
• Provide high‑quality patch guidance and contribution to PRs.
• Maintain a threat model of Tanium software and direct research projects.
• Leverage frontier AI to extend vulnerability research with in‑house or third‑party tools.
• Develop tooling to support vulnerability research, including AI skills and analyzers.
• Reduce time from detection to remediation by lowering false positives and improving quality.
• Perform source code review and security assessment of high‑risk components.
